Set up in 2009 to help young people out of unemployment, WiganRecycles has secured a sub-contract for delivery of the Future Jobs Fund with a national consortium, 3sc. We've taken on a total of 12 people at our unit in Wigan, and we've had them working on a variety of different projects, including our paint project, the delivery of EcoDriving training to staff at the PCT and the development of our new energy company. All of our FJF workers have achieved Professional Trainer certificates, awarded by the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health, and have used this in their design and delivery of our EcoDriving programme for public sector workers. Eight of them are working towards achieving their PCV licence with Wigan and District Community Transport. And they have come together to design and launch our new community energy company, which we hope may create some long term employment opportunities. We'll also be taking on another ten recruits during the course of the coming year, and these, along with some of our trainees from the first phase, will form the workforce for our new Community Energy Company.
